If you know Bay Village, you know the Bay Village Garden Club. Everywhere you look, you’ll see the generous contributions of the club and its members to the community. Major gifts include:

The ten Welcome to Bay Village signs in charming flower-filled planters. Awarded Bay Village Community Council 2008 Project of the Year.
The flower beds at City Hall and the Cahoon Park Gazebo.
The community building signs, including Community House and Dwyer Center.
The three large planters on Dover Center Road across from the Post Office.
The two permanent planters surrounding city memorial markers.
The iconic Memorial Rose Garden in Cahoon Park and its WWII Memorial Sundial and stone bench.
The Bird Sanctuary at Rose Hill Museum.
The Herb Garden on Rose Hill.
In November, the members create holiday decorations for Bay Village shut-ins as well as contribute 30 or more Christmas trees to them. Every Arbor Day the club donates a tree to the city. Also, our club makes and donates the floral centerpieces for the annual City of Bay Village “Citizen of the Year” celebration.
Funding for these projects comes from our December fundraising event, ‘Holiday Workshop’ (formerly Greening of Bay), where non-members make fresh holiday decorations in a workshop run by club members.
In 1929, the Bay Village Women’s Club created the “Garden Group” in the Red Brick Schoolhouse on Lake Road and by 1935, the Garden Club became its own association for both women and men, and began its long history of dedicated service to its members and the community. In 1963 the name was changed briefly to “Bay Garden and Bird Club” before becoming the Bay Village Garden Club in 1967. Today, the club has an active membership of 75 garden enthusiasts hailing from Bay Village and communities in Western Cuyahoga and Eastern Lorain counties.
